SIBA Awards Review (Location: GatesheadRFC)

By Beer Festival 2019

Brewers across the North East have every reason to raise a glass following their success at top beer awards where a North Shields-based alehouse was also crowned overall champion.

Celebrations are continuing in the wake of the SIBA North East Independent Beer Awards where Cullercoats Brewery took gold in the Overall Champion Cask Beer category for its 4.2% Polly Donkin Oatmeal Stout.

The beer, made from seven grains and all British hops, is described as a rich, thick and creamy stout and it became a triple award-winner at the Gateshead event by also winning gold in the Cask British Dark Beers up to 4.4% category as well as bronze among the Bottle/Can British Dark Beers…. We did it! – 10 years of the Gateshead Beer & Music Festival – Who’d have thought!

Back in 2010 we could never have imagined our small community festival growing into one of the biggest Beer and Music festivals in the country!

The comments and feedback from our wonderfully supportive customers has been nothing short of incredible (With many saying this is our best one yet!).

We really couldn’t do it without your amazing support and enthusiasm! We were thrilled to smash through the 5000 Facebook followers barrier…. and it’s all down to YOU sharing, liking and tagging our posts 🙌🏻.

We kickstarted the festival with the SIBA regional beer competition. It was a real honour to host the competition ,whilst meeting some smasing people!

A big shout out to all of our wonderful sponsors/suppliers – again with your support we can continue to grow this volunteer led festival

Judging from your comments I’m sure I speak for many when I say thank you to every musician who performed over the course of the weekend!! Each and everyone of you put everything into your sets and all an absolute pleasure to work with!

As always fantastic Sound and Lighting from Northern Productions Ltd. I’ve lost count of the number of bands who complimented their production!

Many thanks to the hordes of volunteers who help us make the festival what it is! Also, special thanks to my fellow organising committee members!

Thanks also to our onsite paramedic team, who provided care throughout the weekend!

Apologies if I’ve missed anyone out – I’m sure to be adding more names as the days pass!

If you’re looking to fill the gap ahead of 2020 festival then please check out our forthcoming Summer Fest!
It’s going to be amazing!

For more info please head to our website:-

Hopefully we’ll see a few familiar faces at our Summer Fest in August this year (24th 25th)

Festival Parking

By Beer Festival 2019
If anyone is planning on bringing a car this weekend then we’ve got use of the Dryden centre car park which is a 5 minute walk to the venue (NE9 5UR).
The car park will be open from 11:30 to 23:30 Friday/Saturday and 11:30 to 23:00 on Sunday.
The car park will be closed on Monday, so any cars left overnight will be locked in.
Blue Badge holders can park in the Gateshead Fell cricket club car park (Located next door to the Rugby club).
We would however recommend if possible leaving the car at home and using the great local transport links to our club.
Alternatively you could use Dean Taxis who are once again sponsoring our event.
